On Monday last week, we had our Chinese New Year mini inquiry. The children had the opportunity to explore and engage with provocations that focused on this event. Tomo read the story of the Chinese Zodiac to the Neighbourhood and we watched an interesting animation of the great race where the animals were actually Chinese characters!
In the Maths and Performance space children were constructing the Emperor’s palace and throne with blocks, performing puppet shows of the great race and attached the numeral with the corresponding animal in order. In the Art Studio, the children made decorative animal masks. In the Learning Commons, they could listen the story of the great race on computers and draw and label their favourite animal from the race.
There was an enthusiasm and energy in the air as the children excitedly arrived in their costumes.
