On Monday, Carlton Fire Brigade came for their second visit to teach the prep children about fire safety. We learnt how to make safe fires and what to do in case of a fire. The firefighters showed us their fire engine and the children were given the opportunity to use the fire hose and have a look

This week the children have been involved in the animation workshop. We used the iPad to animate a clay character. We learned that to animate, we have to make sure that the iPad is kept still and we move the characters ever so slightly every time we take a shot. We are learning about stop-motion

On Thursday, out local postie, Chris, visited our neighbourhood to present to us about the postal system and share with us about his job as a postie. Chris showed us how the letters are sorted so that it is easier to deliver. Children had many questions to Chris including “how do you become a postie?”

Prep Postal Service is now up and running! We have set up a roster for collection of the mail in the mornings and delivery in the afternoons. This week, during Hour of Code, the students ACTUALLY had a go on the computer! The focus this week was on ‘pair programming’ where the students paired up to solve problems together. Through the puzzles, they learned to drag and drop blocks and the fundamentals of block programming which will help students using Snap! and Scratch.
