Maths – Comparative language in measurement

Last week and this week, the students in prep have been exploring measurement. They have been focusing in particular on comparative language such as ‘near’ and ‘nearer’, ‘long’ and ‘longer’ etc. They have been composing sentences such as “My worm is shorter than Tomo’s”. This week, they created their own city and used their creation to describe their position of their cars. They also explored ways to measure using informal measurement. The learning behind this was to understand that measurement requires a consistent set unit (such as the same size block as opposed to different sized block).IMG_1266 IMG_1267 IMG_1270 IMG_1263 IMG_1241
