What’s Happening
Well done to all the students who continue to help make our yard rubbish free.
Numeracy Over the last couple of weeks, we have been working on doubling, hopping to 10, number facts, factors and all things numerical! We’ve played number games, had doubling championships (congratulations to the skilful winners of a laughing Buddha) and talked about how the students can improve their basic fluency with numbers. Literacy – Week 7 Last week in Literacy the students continued their review of reading comprehension strategies. The two strategies we focused on were questioning and monitoring. The students also developed their understanding of how ideas can be sharpened through the careful choice of verbs and adverbs. The development of their independent writing was one
On Friday the 27th May Gold House will be holding A Day in May which supports Challenge, an organisation that provides assistance for children with cancer. The money we raise goes to providing music therapy sessions for children who are diagnosed with cancer. On the 27th May please bring a gold coin donation and dress
Drumming Performances After a wonderful term of African drumming workshops with Kofi Kunkpe the children are ready to present their learning to the community. Walkathon Notices Walkathon notices were sent home with students last week. Any parents who are able to assist on the day, please fill out the ‘Walkathon Assistance’ slip and return to your child’s home group teacher as soon as possible. Please also return the sponsorship forms before the Walkathon.
Maker Week is Coming! This week in the 5/6 Neighbourhood, we have been getting very excited about Maker Week. To get ready for next week, we have been brainstorming and experimenting with all sorts of high and low tech such as cardboard and lego construction, oz bots, Makey Makey, Hummingbird, Scratch, Little Bits and more.
