This week (after a few attempts!) we have scheduled in our regular Library time for this term for the Year Twos. On Friday mornings, all students will have the opportunity to visit the library to return, browse for, and borrow books. We encourage all students to borrow one book that is at an appropriately challenging level that they can keep in their locker for the week to read during independent reading time. Students may also borrow other books or readers to take home to enjoy.
It was noted however that there were a few students who still had significant list of outstanding overdue books on their account. Students were reminded to have a look at home to see if they could find and return any overdue books that were listed.
Thank you to all the families who responded so well to the ‘Overdue items’ reminders which were sent home from the Library in Term 1 2019, large numbers of books were returned – some from as long ago as 2016. Notices were sent home again in Term 3 for overdue items of each student who appears on our system. The notice listed the items, the date on which they were due for return and the approximate replacement cost for each item.
We currently have approximately 90 students with one or more library books which are still overdue from 2018 – this amounts to approximately $5,000.00 worth of books which are not currently available for use in our library for other students.
If your child has overdue items could you please do any of the following:
– Return the item immediately
– If you are unable to locate the outstanding book/s please pay the cost of replacement or
see Leigh in the library
Please rest assured that all books returned to the library by children, or from neighbourhoods are scanned as returned, as well as any books left lying around in the buildings or the playground. Similarly in 2018 all neighbourhoods returned all books to the library before the end of the year so we are confident that nothing was left at school.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
