Weekly Learning Reflection

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to our second blog post for 2019.

These are some of the things we would like to share from the past week in the Year 2 neighbourhood.

We have all been working to improve our understanding of wellbeing. We participated in an obstacle course to develop our teamwork skills and help us work together. It was so much fun! We have also discussed the range of emotions that we experience in our lives. We did this to know how people are feeling and to improve our vocabulary to better explain our feelings. As a group we talked about positive feelings and everyone picked a positive feeling they connected with and then shared an time when they felt this way. This afternoon with Bronwyn, our Wellbeing Coordinator we brainstormed ways of making us feel happy in the short and long term.

In maths we have done some mapping where we described our journey to school. We have practiced our multiplication facts and skip counting. We also reviewed place-value and how it is useful when adding numbers.

In science we described the properties of different objects and discussed how things work, such as lightning. We read an article from Curious Kids that helped us know more about this. Refer to the link to learn more.

This morning we had our first music session with Deb. We sang some great songs and practiced our rhythm as a team.

We have shared different texts this week including during guided reading and while eating lunch, and have talked about things such as how words are spelt, different characters and some of the problems they encounter.

Lastly we have done lots of writing. We all described in our recounts how we have solved a problem. These included  getting lost at the airport and breaking our bones. We included details such as who, where, when, why and how.
