Swimming Carnival

Our annual school swimming carnival took place at Fitzroy Swimming Pool on Tuesday. The kids swam their little hearts out and the leading house changed frequently throughout the day. Congratulations to Red House for winning the championship!

  1. Red – 170
  2. Blue – 161
  3. Gold – 147
  4. Green – 130

Congratulations to all students who swam in the carnival. It takes a great deal of confidence and bravery to sign up for an event and have a go. To the students who didn’t compete this year, thank you for supporting your house. Hopefully we will see you in the water next year!

To our wonderful team of parent helpers that supported the smooth running of the day – Myles, Malcolm, Laurel, Emma, James, Tracey, Lisa, Jackie, Julia and Nova. Sincere thanks for your effort – we could not have run this event without you. A huge thank you to the teachers from 3 – 6, Richard, Jason and Phoebe (OSHC) who all did a fantastic job in their roles on the day.

Well done to the Captains and Vice Captains who took on their first organisational role of the year. They took the bull by the horns – taking on the responsibility of running their first house meeting and completing the important task of recording all the student entries for events. During the event – many captains could be seen leading house chants and supporting their peers.

A timely reminder that by the end of year 6, students are expected to be able to swim a distance of 50m continuously. Like any skill, practice will support children to make improvements and build confidence to meet this goal.

Next up – District Swimming on the 21st of February!
