The students of year 4 are now well and truly onto developing their inquiry projects. We continue to develop our big idea, ‘We are part of the natural world’, and ask questions on ‘What part do we play in shaping the natural world?’ and ‘How do our feeling and emotions connect us to the natural world?’ Two inquiry groups were created to respond to the children’s interests, the museum group and the poetry / art group.
Our neighbourhood has been developing shared statements about, ‘Why we have museums?’ Students have worked in small groups to review the shared statements and create their own writing from all of our ideas.
The students in the museum group have been investigating the research question ‘What do we need to learn more about?’ The research question will help to build our understanding of everything that goes into creating a museum.
In the poetry group, students worked in small groups to create an art murals on nature using multimedia. The murals inspired students to develop word lists and similes to assist them with their poetry. Students have been investigating the different types of poetry types and have been writing poetry.
