Week 2:

Week 2:

This week students used Yayoi Kusama’s work to explore colour theory.

We examined primary colours and mixed our own secondary colours from the primary colours. We explored the relationships between colours and also played around with the amount of colour used when mixing.

We aim to create a colour poster in a few weeks when we have explored the relationship between the colours we made and the emotions we attached to them.

The new prep students created a poster using both primary and secondary colours and chose to create a work that expressed joy through subject matter and colour choice.

We have begun a collaborative whole school installation inspired by the Yayoi Kusama’s infinity rooms. Every week students observe how our own ‘infinity tree’ changes as students place a dot on the tree. It has been very exciting watching our tree change.

Week 3 and 4

We have also begun a self-portrait inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s work. Our self-portrait does not have to reflect what we look like but also how we feel inside. Some students chose to create a self-portrait reflecting a creature that they identify with. These are works in progress and will be completed next week. But here is a sneak preview of some of works in progress…..
