The neighbourhood definitely has a buzz this morning as children are sharing their adventures of the Bazaar. The weather was amazing and we will compare the actual temperature with the forecasts that were made two weeks ago for our Weather Project. Children will continue to explore the different ways we can analyse weather data, including range, median, medium and mode. There will also be a focus on decimal numbers and placing decimal numbers in order from smallest to largest.
The Junior School Council interviews took place today and the year 5’s nervously await the outcome. Their applications were of a very high standard, making the process for the panel very difficult. The children will continue to work on speeches, writing a 90 second persuasive speech which will be presented to the neighbourhood in the next few weeks. This week children will focus on word choice and using words which are specific to get across their message. The year 6s will be also writing their graduation speeches and they are starting to gather feedback on their speeches.
The 3D printers arrived recently and we are now starting to explore how they work. The Digital Leaders are working with our technician to learn how to use them and we are using the Makers Empire software to explore creating 3D images online. A focus this week for this will be to take the measurements of the 3 dimensions so we can check it will fit in the printer before we set off.
Some of the year 6 students will also have a transition meeting this week with the year 7 teachers from Princes Hill Secondary School and we finish our ‘Catching on Early’ program that has been running for the last two weeks.
