During the last week of term, the Preps took part in another Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships welbeing workshop. This one focused on the importance of positive self talk.
Warm up activity: Assigning different body movements to feelings. The preps learnt the first 3 movement/feeling pairings then came up with some of their own. When a feeling was called out, they had to quickly get into that body movement.
Positive self talk vs. Negative self talk
After a discussion about what self talk is, students viewed some role-play of positive self talk.
eg – I can do it! I believe in myself. It is ok if I don’t get it straight away.
We had a discussion about how positive self talk can be applied at school. When challenging themselves to do something they find difficult, it is vital for students to have a positive voice in their heads.
