M.A.D Expo Congratulations to all the presenters from yesterday’s M.A.D Expo. The presentations were a wonderful showcase of the learning that has occurred this semester. Chess champion visits PHPS Every Friday this year we have run the 5/6 chess club. Today, to celebrate a great year of playing chess we held a special event. Ari Dale, the current Australian under 18 chess champion (and Jeff’s nephew) came to PHPS and took on all comers in a spectacular simultaneous chess demonstration.
Numeracy This week, we have been focussing on fractions. Students have explored the concept of the fractions as a part of a whole and as an operator. We brought our study of fractions to life by pondering the following story: Lucky Jeff has 20 lolly snakes. Unfortunately (for some) he shares them a bit unfairly.
