Father’s Maths – Looking at Measurement

This week our maths focus has been measurement. With Father’s Day this Sunday, we asked the children to use dad as a way to develop their measuring skills using uniform informal units.

We asked, How tall is your dad? How wide is your dad? How long are his arms, legs, etc.,? Children used a range of ways to measure their dad – measuring tapes, pencils, glue sticks even A4 paper! Children also used dad to build on their knowledge of measuring perimeter. Some went outside and used chalk on the concrete! Others created an outline using pencils, strips of paper etc., Children drew dad and recorded their findings in their Home Leaning journal.
