Zero Gradi e il Coro dei Bambini

Eventi italiani! Dicembre 2019

Ciao a tutti, it’s a very busy time in the year 5/6 Italian classes as students excitedly prepare for their trip to Zero Gradi, a local gelateria. This excursion provides opportunities for authentic communication in the target language and is a wonderful way to connect with our local Italian community.

After focusing on the use of manners and formal language, we looked at vocabulary related to gusti di gelato (menta, pistacchio, cioccolato, limone, fragola, bacio) and how to express likes and dislikes (mi piace mango, non mi piace stracciatella). Students created little booklets (survival guide) complete with scripts to support them when they interact with members of the Italian speaking community and order in Italian.

It’s also an exciting time for the members of the Coro dei Bambini, who will be joining students from our sister school, Brunswick North PS, as we perform for our families and friends at the Abruzzo Club on Wednesday 4th December. Together we make up a choir comprising 150 members who love to sing popular, traditional and folk songs!
