Dear lovely parents and carers,
This week we have been working on different ways we can persuade people to come to our book launch. We had three workshops where we brainstormed lists of people we want to invite (our audience) and types of persuasive texts:
Our audience | Types of persuasive text |
Cousins Parents Carers Teachers in other Neighbourhoods Friends Grandparents Teachers who used to work at the school CRT’s (like Simon) Babysitters Other students in other year levels Siblings Uncles and Aunts Esme Keith Richard Jackie Leigh |
Videos/Advertisements Posters Letters Blog post Newsletter article Speeches Invitations Stickers Text Messages Emails Postcards Sky writing Write a song Make a telephone call Persuasive poem |
Students were invited to create a project group, or work independently, to brainstorm their ideas and start to plan their persuasive “text”.
- I am working on an invitation. I used my Inquiry Book to make a draft of the invitation. Now I am creating it digitally on the computer. I have put glowing letters on my invitation by selecting the font ‘Cracked’ (Theo)
- I am working with Lyla, Izzy and Lily to create and advertisement video. We used our Inquiry Book to plan out which role we are going to play and what we were going to say. Now we are working on a background in iMovie and we are choosing sound effects (Olivia)
- I have drafted a newsletter post in my Inquiry Book. I have used extremely persuasive words. (Banjo)
- Maia and I have been creating a comical speech. We have written dialogue and planned our costumes. (Claudia)
- I am working in a really large group to make a trailer for the book launch. We did loads of planning by having conversations and writing down our ideas. We are using iMovie to make our trailer. (Tristan)
We are looking forward to sharing our finished persuasive texts with you so you can find out the date and time of our brilliant book launch. Stay tuned for more information and have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Neighbourhood
