Written communication is only one part of the picture. During week one, students were invited to reflect on their holiday and create a 6 Word Memoir. With only six words available every word counts! Students needed to describe setting, feeling and activity with as much detail as possible. Once written, these memoirs were given even more life through colour, image and font use. Students used a digital program called Canva to develop their posters.
The skills being explored were descriptive language, sentence structure, editing and revising and multi media skills.
Through this experience we are starting to build an understanding of the many ways words can inform the reader, often providing a range of feelings that is also informed by the readers past experiences.
We were able to connect and communicate with each other in a way the challenged the students in both their writing and digital skills.
