Over the last 3 Wednesday afternoons the year 2 students have been excitedly heading over to the year 3/4 neighbourhood and participating in our first every 2-3 transition! The year 2’s are getting familiarised with the neighbourhood and meeting the students who may be their classmates for next year. Each year 2 was paired up with a year 3 student and have been getting a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed and fun setting. The first week we met, the students spent the hour getting to know their buddies and working together on a Venn Diagram – figuring out what the pairs have in common and what their differences are. The next two sessions students were introduced to a new computer program called Co-Spaces. Co-Spaces in a virtual reality platform where students enter and create their own worlds. Students worked with their buddies and began thinking about settings and characters and also making characters move. Students began to code their characters using Blockly. The next step would be to get their worlds onto smaller handheld devices and use VR goggles to immerse themselves into their worlds.
All students have been respectful and thoughtful and shown themselves excited and ready to head up to the senior school!
