Week 2 Learning Focus
This week in the 5/6 Neighbourhood there is plenty of exciting learning happening. Here are the highlights:
English
Our students are revising their understanding of how to write a biography. This includes investigating the lives of the authors of some of the books we are reading in our literature studies.
Maths
There is a lot of excitement in the Neighbourhood. We have started working on a huge range of maths projects, including planning a holiday, opening a shopping centre, constructing a cubby house, operating a food truck, making a scale drawing of PHPS, writing and then filming a maths movie, and many more. Over the next few weeks, we will explore and master the maths needed for these projects. Stay tuned for details of our upcoming maths expo, where our students will present their projects!
Inquiry
As we start to consider who will be our Year 6 leaders in 2019, our Year 5 students are exploring the concept of leadership. What does it mean to be a leader? What are the qualities of a great leader?
Meanwhile, as they prepare to leave PHPS, our Year 6 students are considering the concept of legacy. What is a legacy? What sort of legacy do we wish to leave behind when we leave PHPS?
Inter School Sport (ISS)
We are getting ready for the start of the Summer interschool sport season, with matches commencing next week. Please check compass for your child’s permission note and payment requirements.
Have a great week,
Your 5/6 Teaching Team
