Hello all,
This week we will continue working in our three animal research groups,
- Extinct Animals
- Wild Animals and
- Sea animals
The children have come up with varied and exciting research questions about their animals and we are looking forward to visiting the library to see if we can find answers to our questions and wonderings.
We have also been considering why animals are important to our planet and us. As a group the children have synthesised their thinking into three statements:
“Some people kill animals for tusks but we don’t agree that animals should be hunted for decorations.”
“Animals give us joy by keeping us company and making us feel happy.”
“Animals give us things we really need to stay alive, like food and clothes.”
Writing
The children will be writing narratives, making Fun Fact Cards and writing plays about their animals.
Performing
The children began making puppets of their animals last week and now we are ready to start performing plays with them. We are looking forward to watching the children develop their storyboards, rehearsing and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Maths
We will continue to look further into what we know about 2D Shapes this week by exploring lines of symmetry.
We are also working with the children to further develop their understanding of time and developing their counting skills, specifically counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
