Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)

The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) will begin Thursday 21st of June, for two weeks before the end of term. The program will continue in Term 3 for the majority of the term. It is in the gymnasium between 9.15 and 10.30.

The children participate in different activities at stations around the gym; each one will focus on building a particular motor skill. We are looking for parent help to run to assist with running each station (there is explanation of how to run it and it goes for 6 minutes per group, when the whistle blows the children rotate around to another station). For example, one station might be throwing a beanbag into a bucket 3 times.

We will be putting a parent helper sign up sheet on the notice board today. We are looking for least 10 parents to assist with each station. There are detailed task cards with each station, and the stations are set up before PMP begins. Younger siblings are welcome.

If you are helping with PMP here is what you need to know:

  • Sign in at the office before you go to gymnasium. You will get a lanyard to wear.
  • When you get to gym, you may choose a station. First in best dressed!
  • There is a card with an explanation of the task. If you have any questions, ask a teacher for clarification.
  • When the preps arrive at your station, explain what they have to do – demonstrate if possible.
  • The children will be at your station for 5-6 minutes then they will rotate around to the next one.
  • There are cones for them to line up at, ensure they go to the end of the line when they complete task.

Many Thanks,

The Prep Team
