As part of our inquiry the children have been eagerly working on designing a ‘Prep Explorer’ logo during project and provocation time.
This morning Jonathan (Nina’s dad and a graphic designer) came into the neighbourhood to talk to us about logo design and to give us some tips and guidance. Jonathan showed us many different examples of effective logos and provoked children’s thinking by asking the following questions:
‘What are explorers?’
‘What are preps?’
He suggested to children that they think about these questions and perhaps combine their ideas about preps and explorers as a potential way to create a meaningful logo. He also talked about how designers are very persistent and may need to try lots of times before they get to the perfect design!
We have invited Jonathan to visit again early next term to use his extensive knowledge and experience to help us select the top logo designs. As a neighbourhood collective we will then vote on which one we’d like to be our official Prep Explorer logo.
