National Tree Day

On the 31st of July, students from across PHPS came together to celebrate National Tree Day by planting indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses in the school grounds. The planting site we chose was along the northern fence line. The students really enjoyed the process of beautifying our school by working with their hands to transplant native vegetation (they were all very careful when handling the plants’ fragile roots). Princes Hill Primary was part of an estimated 250,000 people who took part in plantings across the country! It was a great experience for everyone involved and an opportunity to think about increasing our sustainability.

Thank you to everyone involved as well as Yarra Council and the Victorian Indigenous Nursery for generously supporting this initiative with their donation of the nearly 50 young plants we now have growing at our school.
