Term 4 Week 1 – Inquiry Project Update
Students in the 1/2 Neighbourhood 2 started Term 4 working in their three Inquiry groups – Team Toys Productions, Pickle Family Productions and Paw Armadillos Productions. All students have been very engaged in developing characters, settings, and story lines – taking ownership over the project and collaborating successfully within their groups. Week 1 and Week 2 have been spent developing the script of the story, with production of the film to build on this as the term progresses. Students have been developing skills in sharing their ideas, giving feedback to others, and negotiating how different elements can work together to create a story that is engaging, suspenseful, interesting and funny for their audiences.
The three groups have used visual storytelling as a way to develop their ideas for the story, and have been working on using adjectives and creating descriptive and complex sentences to describe what is happening in connection with their artworks. We are excited to be working with our Artist in Residence Deb in our music sessions to develop sound effects, soundscapes and music for our films, last week learning about the role of foley artists and how foley sounds are used to enhance the auditory experience of the movie. Please come into the neighbourhood to have a closer look at the displays that show the work in progress of the three production groups. Furthermore, if you happen to have experience in film making that you would like to share with the students, we would very much appreciate any ‘expert’ talks in the neighbourhood this term related to film making and storytelling – please get in touch with Meredith, Anna or Matilda!
