Our inquiry question for semester 1 was ‘How can we look after our environments and make them better?’ Our explorations were focused on students gaining an understanding of their school environment. We are now moving in a different direction – exploring other environments in the world and linking these to the habitats of animals.
The students began by choosing an animal to research. They searched for a non-fiction text in the library to assist them in their explorations. The children participated in a workshop about research using computers. They learnt how to use Google to look for information and took part in a cyber safety workshop to make sure they know how to be safe when using the internet.
Students have taken part in a workshop focused on formulating research questions that will guide them to learn more about their animal.
The children will have opportunities to collaborate with a variety of students according to shared interests.
