Inquiry Group: Sustainability

Yesterday, students continued exploring the idea of bringing life on Earth to Mars. We used thinking tools to organise our ideas around the various topics. As a group we sorted the challenges we would face in colonising Mars, and the problems we are facing on Earth, under the headings of air, water, food, health and shelter. Together, we identified terraforming as a possible way to make Mars more like Earth. We realized that all living things on our planet need a similar habitat to survive.

Some of the guiding questions asked:

  • How do we respect a new environment?
  • Are we using more of Earth’s resources?
  • How can we avoid the mistakes of the past?
