Literacy News

Year 3/4 Neighbourhoods had a productive and literacy-filled Term One! We have covered the writing process and the different traits of quality writing (Ideas, Organisation, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions, and Presentation). Students also began to use their Writer’s Notebook to develop writing ideas, including writing on the topic of ‘Me at My Best’.  We are now in the process of establishing personalised SMART goals for writing in Term Two.

Over the start of this term we will be exploring the key elements of both narrative and persuasive writing in connection to how “our actions and choices have positive and negative impacts on our environment”. We will be challenging students to write a persuasive text on someone from their family or community that they think should recognised for an award. We encourage families to have discussions that could help students identify qualities in others that would make them a possible candidate!
