Every Monday, the Preps write a recount of their weekend. On Fridays they write a reflection about something they did during the day.
As early writers, they are encouraged to copy simple sentence starters (‘Today I’ and ‘On the weekend’) and they complete their piece by illustrating their ideas. With support their sentence is completed by the teacher. Through regular modelled and independent writing experiences, students build confidence to have a go at writing the key sounds they hear in words. We encourage students who have knowledge of letters and their corresponding sounds to use an alphabet strip to assist them to write familiar words.
