Inquiry / Wellbeing workshops – How do we feel in different spaces at school?

During our wellbeing sessions, we aim to support to preps to recognise their feelings and build their capacity to self regulate during challenging situations. We often refer to the Kimochis as they help students to connect with many different feelings in a fun and engaging way.

As part of our inquiry into our school environment, the preps brainstormed all the feelings that they feel in different spaces.

During last week’s session we all focussed on feelings that may be felt in the playground.

We listened a Piggy and Gerald story called ‘Can I play too?’ which focuses on inclusion of others.

The conversation starter ‘Can I play too?’ can be used when people are feeling lonely and want to join in with others. We also looked at the fact that some people may feel too shy to ask, so we need to look after those children too. ‘Would you like to play with us?’ is another conversation starter that they can use to include others in the play ground.
