Over the past three weeks, we have been setting up and engaging in our new maths workshops and our new maths daily 3 provocations. We have been having a blast!
All students in 3/4 have their own maths SMART goal that they are working towards achieving. All students have explored how maths workshops sound, feel and look like and have investigated the roles of the teachers and students within a maths workshop.
All students challenged their mathematical understandings of place value by building PLACE VALUE TOWERS!
Students were required to create a target number and make that target number only using mathematics and construction materials. Students needed to show evidence of their place value understandings by filling out a place value chart that identified: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands ………. even to the millions and beyond!
