Soren Dahlgaard is a Melbourne based Danish artist who works with playful participation, creative collaboration and engagement in art, where process and humour are important factors.
Next term, he will be working in the Visual Art program, across the whole school, on a new project based on the genre of still life.
Soren is currently doing a practice led PhD at the VCA, Melbourne University. He has exhibited internationally for 10 years and recently had a book published titled: Dough Portraits, which presents a 7 year long photo series.
Our exploration into the genre of Still Life will differ from the traditional interpretations and will take new and very contemporary approaches to the genre. It will involve using pre-existing vessels and props as well as adding to, and embellishing, existing objects as well as making new objects. A variety of materials will be used.
We will be requiring quite a few props for our Still Life work. We will be needing vases, vessels, artificial flowers and fruits and any other containers such as jugs, cups, mugs, plates and bowls. Due to the nature of this exploration, any materials donated will be unable to be returned.
As the holidays are coming up, it would be a great opportunity to clean out your cupboards and donate any suitable unwanted items to our still life project!
Many thanks for all your help.
