Monday afternoon, students from across PHPS came together to celebrate Planet Ark’s National Tree Day by planting indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses on the school grounds. The children really enjoyed the process of beautifying our school by working with their hands to transplant native vegetation (and they were all very careful when handling the plants’ fragile roots). We were part of an estimated 250,000 people who took part across the country! It was a great experience for everyone involved and inspired us all to think about sustainability and the environment in a different light.
Thank you to everyone involved as well as Yarra Council for generously supporting this initiative through the donation of the nearly 50 young plants we now have growing at our school.
