Numeracy
In the first, short week of Term 3, the students have been introduced to the game of ‘Addo,’ which is a game that is useful for becoming fluent with addition fact knowledge but also provides a great investigation into probability.
The students have developed some cunning strategies and would no doubt like to challenge their families to a game of ‘Addo.’ All you need is a 3 x 3 grid, as you would draw up for a noughts and crosses game, and two sets of number cards with the numbers 0-10.
The game is from Maths 300, which is available as a software game on the students’ computers, so they can also spend some time further perfecting their game board and proving this by reducing the average number of cards it takes them to win each game in a simulation of 1,000 games!!
Good luck trying to beat them.
