This week in the 3/4 neighbourhood we have been exploring perspectives. The students were inspired by our artist in residence Darren as we explored how photos tell a story. The stories we can tell through photography also include the perspective of the photographer and often include many clues, emotions and context. Students have been bringing in their own photos which tell a range of stories.
We then took this perspective idea further and captured some self-portraits. During this experience, we discussed how photos do capture everything but when creating different artworks we can focus on different things. “When you draw you can choose what to include, you don’t have to include everything like your bad parts!” – Banjo
Throughout provocations this week, we used photography to capture the story of the ¾s. Students documented by taking photos of each other. “The things I notice when I take pictures are a bit different” – Kat. “When people take my picture it means we might be doing something important, but maybe we have to finish them to share them.” Marla.
