On the first day of school, one of our 3/4 students brought in a wonderful rainbow flower. This sparked curiosity in all students and the teachers. We investigated and created a provocation to explore this more.
Robert brought in some white flowers and we placed them in colored water. Students then created some predictions about what would happen during the week.
“I think they will change, it will take a long time though” – Olivia
“I predict that the water will go up the stem and change the colour of the petals” – Claudia
We then observed the changes throughout the week and will continue to adapt and explore this in the coming weeks. As we watched the flowers slowly change colour we continued to question and started to wonder about where the water was going, up the stem? Through evaporation?
