Year Two Secret Santas

Dear parents and carers,

This afternoon we picked random names (students from our Neighbourhood) out of a bowl and wrote them down in our Inquiry books.  Why did we do this, I hear you ask? The one person that we picked will be the focus of this years’ inaugural Secret Santa. Secret Santa will be happening on the 19th of December at the end of the day.  Between then and now, during Projects and Provocations we will be working on or small, secret gift to give our secret recipient. We do not want to spend any money, so here are some ideas we have come up with:

  • Poem
  • Draw a little picture
  • Sneak a letter in their locker
  • Make a card
  • Email someone a canva card
  • Write a note
  • A little something everyday accumulating onto a massive surprise on the final day
  • Make a bracelet out of string and paper clips
  • Make a Scratch animation
  • Make a poster
  • Give a letter everyday that spells out something
  • Put a carving of something into someone’s locker
  • Use an empty paper clip container, put a sheet of paper around it, write keep safe on it, then put a letter inside it
  • Make origami
  • Write a song
  • Harry would like to do the persons name in sign language

How we are feeling after picking out a name

  • Excited (Ike) because I know what I am going to make them
  • Nervous (Franzi) because I am not sure who got me
  • Proud (Lewis) because I wanted that name and I feel like I had some control over the name I picked out
  • Excited (Molly) because I don’t know who got me
  • Excited (Tristan) because I’ll get to know the person a little more
  • Scared (Jessica) because I’m not sure what to do for them
  • Really happy (Alannah) because I already know a little about that person already so I have some ideas of what to do
  • I felt very nervous (Tao, Lilian, Theo) because I have no idea of what to make them
  • I felt amazing (Abdullah) because i picked a boy
  • I felt proud (Archie M) because I liked who I picked
  • I feel happy (Robert) because I chose a normal person
  • I felt weird in the tummy (Izzy) because I didn’t know who got me
  • I felt bad (Alessia) because I have no idea what to do for the person

We are all looking forward to the challenge/opportunity of getting to know our ‘secret’ person a bit more and make new connections.

Yours festively, bye bye (Thomas)
