Term 4 Week 2 Learning Reflection

Dear lovely parents and carers,

The Year 2 Neighbourhood have almost reached the final stages of editing our narratives.  This week we worked on writing blurbs for our stories.

Narrative Blurbs are short little pieces of writing to give the reader information about what your narrative is about, but they don’t give the whole story away.  Typically, narrative blurbs are found on the back cover of a book. They persuade the reader to want to read the book by including interesting and descriptive words.  We have noticed that lots of narrative blurbs end in a question for the reader. Have you ever noticed this?

We are writing blurbs because we want to get people interested in the book we are publishing.  Our blurbs will tell people a bit about the stories we have written, but not everything.

This afternoon, right after the bell goes, our blurbs will be on display right outside the Year 2 Neighbourhood.  You might see a story or two (or maybe more) that you are desperate to read.
