Tai Snaith
Tai Snaith is an Australian artist and writer with a broad and generous practice ranging from painting and ceramics to curating, conducting conversations and broadcasting.
Artist in Residence, Tai Snaith, worked in Visual Art with the year 2 students. Tai collaborated with the year 2 Inquiry into ‘Why write?’ The students wrote stories and created two images from their stories. Tai assisted students to develop visual stories telling skills and build imaginary landscapes and settings for their characters. The collages were incorporated into the completed stories. A special celebration of the students’ books and art work was displayed for parents, teachers and students to see.
Session 1
Tai began her residency with the year 2 students by reading her book, You might find yourself. Tai displayed some of the original pictures from her book and referred to them as she read the story.
Tai discussed how she produced her pictures for her book alone the way.
The children have been developing storyboards and storylines in their neighbourhood. They used their storyboards as a starting point to draw four pictures that encapsulate their story.
Students had the opportunity during Projects and Provocations last week to visit Tai Snaith’s website to find out more about her work as an artist.
