Dear Parents and Carers,
Sorry we didn’t get to do the blog last Thursday as we wanted to save it until we had been on the excursion (Maggie).
We would like to introduce you to the last two weeks of Term 2 and reflect on last weeks learning.
We had an amazing week last week!
We went to the Arts Centre on Friday the 14th of June where we were lucky enough to watch “Alice Through The Opera Glass”. Some of the highlights included the White Rabbit’s costume (Izzy), seeing Emily, Banjo’s mum perform two different roles (Banjo), Alice’s costume (Emma), Emily in the mermaid costume (Kaan), the Queen of the Night’s costume (Harry), when Alice and her friends had to sing the Queen of the Night’s song (Olivia), all of the singing (Jessica), when the White Rabbit drank the tea upside down because it made me feel surprised (Lilian). Thank you to all of the wonderful parents who came; Emily (Hugo’s mum), Michelle (Lilian’s mum), Amanda (Hugh’s mum), Linh (Mia’s mum), Julie (Samuel’s mum), Rebecca (Sebastien’s mum), Effie (Ike’s mum), Anna (Lewis’ mum) and last but not least, Carrie Ann (Iona’s mum). Also a huge thank you to Michael.
Last week and this week we did not have an organiser (Samuel), however, we have still been very productive. We have been embodying different characters, practicing renaming, addition, subtraction and multiplication using the Hundreds/Tens & Ones game, planning the layout of the dioramas of our narrative settings and describing our characters.
Today we had an incursion to teach us more about opera (Sonny). We learnt that singing can’t break wine glasses and that Lewis and Izzy are very good at changing costumes. We also learnt a new song about saying thank you to the performers. (Claudia)
The lyrics are:
On behalf of Princes Hill
Thank you for your vocal skill
Then one day
Come what may
How we hope to see you again!
