Week 5 Learning Reflection

Dear Parents and Carers,

This has been another busy week. During this productive week we have been creating posters to make us better at using persuasive language. In order to make our posters persuasive we have considered our use of words. We have used adjectives like magnificent (Lachlan), awesome (Scarlett H. – she knows who she is), towering (Lewis), memorable (Ziyu), marvellous (Franzi) and exquisite (Sunny W).

Our posters have been about sporting clubs we would like to join, helping animals that are in zoos and aquariums – captivity (Lyla), looking after the environment (Bessie), eating certain types of food (Sunny W.) and Lego models we are advertising (Sammy).

We were lucky enough to hear from Jodie (Sonny D’s persuasive mum) on Monday, Monique (Isabelle’s sustainable mum) on Tuesday, Lynda (Maggie’s organised mum) on Wednesday and Morgan (Imogen’s helpful dad) today. We really appreciate them coming in and sharing with us. Our reflections will be on display in the neighbourhood from early Friday morning. Please come in and have a look!

Today we began measuring the vegetable garden in preparation for some later plantings for our school (Wesley).

In music we have continued preparing for the Reconciliation assembly next week with Deb.

Yesterday we participated in a livestream from Opera Victoria at the Arts Centre. This is in preparation for our upcoming excursion to see Alice Through the Opera Glass. We learnt some words in French – bonjour, ca va (Tristian), that there are different voices in an opera performance – soprano and mezzo soprano (Franzi), that they use words like bright and rich to describe the different types of voices (Imogen) and that opera is written and performed in many different languages like Italian, French and German.

Finally, we have been using concrete materials to practice our addition and subtraction (Ike!). Thinking of part-part whole helps us better understand the process (Hugo).
