Week 3 in 3/4

This week in the neighbourhoods we are exploring;

Storing your Collection 

Our measurement inquiry will continue to be looking at the practical uses for measurement in our every day lives. The students will be supported through targets and workshops and will be working towards creating a full-scale model of a collection container. This week we are making our concept drawings more clear as we move towards planning and finalising our designs.

Spelling Strategies 

Our deep dive into spelling strategies continues this week as the students sharpen their editing skills and explore the many sound patterns that can be used to make different sounds in English. Spelling patterns will be supported through our weekly spelling investigation.

Reading Response 

This week we are looking at putting what we are reading in context. We are looking at particular points of view that connect us to what we’re reading and we try to expand and track our reading this week.

Maths Investigation

This week we continue to explore word problems and maths strategies. We are going to be working together to explain our thinking and teach others new skills.

What does reconciliation mean to you?

As we continue to move towards Reconciliation week, we are learning about the different elements of reconciliation in our lives. We are learning about Australian history and discuss current events that are connected to these ideas.

Writing Station

Students have been learning about the writing process and this week will be completing their stories that they have planned, drafted, edited, revised and then published. We can’t wait to begin sharing them with you all!

Mothers and Special Persons Day Assembly

This Friday, May 10th there is a whole school assembly celebrating mothers and Special people in our lives. the 3/4’s will be presenting a video created this week as well as some songs we have been practising in music with Deb.
