This week we are full swing into our inquiry for the year and happy to get back to a fun-filled week of learning.
This week in the neighbourhoods we are exploring;
Storing your Collection
Our measurement inquiry will be exploring the practical uses for measurement in our every day lives. The students will be supported through targets and workshops and will be working towards creating a full-scale model of a collection container.
Spelling Strategies
Our deep dive into spelling strategies continues this week as the students sharpen their editing skills and explore the many sound patterns that can be used to make different sounds in English. We are also looking at visual supports that help us remember words for our writing.
Reading Response
This week we are looking at putting what we are reading in context. This helps to deepen our learning and apply our critical thinking skills to the texts we engage with.
Maths Investigation
Our strategies for explaining our mathematical thinking are crucial to be able to problem solve and think outside the box. This week students will be looking at problems that need to be solved in different ways and working hard to show their thinking and share their process with others.
What does reconciliation mean to you?
This week is Reconciliation Week. We are exploring what this means to us and how it affects our lives. Through music, we are looking at different forms of the national anthem and how music reflects the thinking of the artists who create it.
Writing Station
With a wide range of writing happening in the neighbourhoods, students are working towards publishing. Students are closely following the editing and revising the process and we are looking forward to sharing our work with the wider community.
Thanks,
The 3/4 team
