Nude Food and Lunch Eating

Just a quick note about lunch eating time here at PHPS.

All students go out for outside lunch eating time at 11:00, during this time they are able to take any ‘nude’ food such as a sandwich, roll, wrap or piece of fruit. This nude food policy is to cut down on our waste and keep our outdoor environments free from rubbish.

At 11:50 all the 3/4’s come in to grab their lunch boxes and settle for lunch eating time. This is an opportunity to eat in a community with home groups and other 3/4’s. We often read books and listen to podcasts during this time. This indoor lunch eating time ends at 11:05 – and we then have a few more minutes of silent eating for those that need some extra time.

After eating time we come back together to get started with our learning from 12:10 daily.

If your child is feeling hungry throughout the day, they are of course able to have a fruit snack at any time while they work.

Ways to help are;

  • supporting your child to remember a water bottle each day so they don’t need to leave to get a drink of water
  • helping your child prepare foods that are nude and can be taken out with them at outside play times
  • helping your child have a range of fruits and veggies so they can have quick and healthy snacks throughout the day
