Much shorter week this week, but still plenty going on in Year 1!
Last week, or today if you were given it, the students received their Photography Order Forms. Please read the instructions and options carefully as we do require these forms to be complete and returned no later than Friday 22nd March. The photo days at school this year will land on 12th, 13th & 14th March with the siblings photos falling on 15th March. In line with the recent compass post, we recommend that you prepare your child every one of these days as the photographers will be choosing home groups and individual photos in a particular order. (More than likely, the junior school will be the first students to have their photos taken).
This week, our exciting provocations will continue in all areas of the neighbourhoods which will include writing about their artefacts, stories from around the world, puppetry creating, animations producing as well as beginning to create their very own stories in line with the animations.
Students will continue in their guided reading groups this week, as well as continuing on with their story/artefacts writing. However, as some students will be close to finishing, mini targets will be held to help them understand the importance of going over and editing their work to make it the best writing/story it can be.
Within numeracy, students will continue looking into number patterns and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. They will explore how number patterns work, where we see them in the real work, are they odd or even and do they go up or down or both? We will also be working on counting using place value understanding of ones, tens and hundreds!
Please remind your child to pack their reading journals for tomorrow’s library lesson – as well as fill in their reading logs! After tomorrow’s library session, some students will be taking home a list of overdue books that need to be returned ASAP!
Last reminder: there will be a junior assembly Friday morning starting at 9:05am. There will be presentations as well as important information about the upcoming information night.
