Here are some of the wonderful things we are exploring in the neighbourhoods this week;
Letter writing
We are exploring the history of letters as we begin to share our letters with others. We are also writing using other types of communication tools such as emails, codes and postcards. If any families have old letters or postcards we would love to take a look! Please let your child’s homegroup teacher know!
Graphing and Data
Data collection is being linked with a purpose this week as we investigate the reasons for graphing. What are the things we want to know about each other? How can the information we collect help change the world for the better? Once we have developed these important questions we are looking at the many ways we can present our findings with others by learning about different types of graphs.
WONDER in the world around us
As we continue to explore WONDER we are building our question wall and trying out the many ways we can communicate the way things work. Students are using ‘see, think, wonder’ strategies and testing out our many forms of expression. World Phenomenons, wonderful objects and collections are being discussed and shared and we are working together to develop theories and explanations. Students will also be looking at ways the world categorises knowledge, and how it helps us build our understanding.
Notes and Notices
- We need your help! As we explore we would love to have a growing collection of wonderous objects, photos, videos or sounds. If you have anything that has sparked wonder for you we would love to work with you to share it with the 3/4 neighbourhoods. Please be in contact with your child’s homegroup teacher!
- Deposits for both the year 3 camp and year 4 camp were due last Friday. Please make the payments as soon as possible via compass or speak to Julie or Amanda if you have any questions.
- Next Monday and Tuesday (March 4th and 5th) are student free days. Next week we will be all back together on Wednesday, March 6th.
