Welcome to week two! Here is what we are exploring in the neighbourhoods this week.
What happens in our school?
Children will be drawing maps and exploring the different ways we learn and use the spaces around our school. We will be gathering inspiration from illustrated maps, models and digital maps to create some of our own learning space. This exploration also incorporates shapes and space and we deepen our mathematical thinking in practice.
Teamwork makes the dream work
Collaboration is key to successful learning at PHPS and this week students will be exploring what good teamwork looks like, feels like and sounds like. We will be acting, reflecting and trialling different teamwork roles and exploring how the be a great teammate.
Learning Machines
We all need different capabilities to be successful learners. This week students will be reflecting on what they need to be the best learners they can be. With a little imagination, we are also designing and creating inventions to support our learning. What machines would be useful in each of our learning spaces?
Emotions
Our emotions impact the choices we make, both positive and negative in the learning environments. this week we will be looking at different emotions and how to identify them, name them, and work with them to be successful learners.
Cybersafety and getting digital
This week we will begin to look at our digital learning tools. We are learning how to best use the resources we have and how to be responsible digital users. Our focus is about using the learning tools in a way that is safe, respectful and appropriate. Students will also have to reflect on the digital expectations and sign the 2019 digital agreements.
NOTES AND NOTICES
- On, Tuesday, Feb 5th our yr4’s and some yr 3’s will be attending the 2019 swimming carnival. Please make sure your student has a packed lunch, sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle. Good luck to all our swimmers!
- If your student will be taking part in the BYOD program please make sure computers are at school this week as we are setting up internet and logins. If anyone has questions please feel free to ask your student’s homegroup teacher.
