Welcome to week 9! Here is what is happening in the neighbourhoods…
Chance or Skill
There is an element of risk and chance in everyday situations. This week we’re exploring how elements of risk and chance can be communicated mathematically. Our investigation will take us toward the development of digital carnival games which explore the question, Chance or Skill?
Geography
Our key exploration for geography this week looks at the understanding of personal and other cultures to understand our place in the global community. We’re exploring this idea through a number of workshops and discussions.
Identity Artworks & Recounts and Podcasts
This week we are setting up our 3/4 Identity Art Expo. This week we’ll be sharing our learning with others before opening it to parents and friends for a number of open house’s next week.
Genre Study
Genre student continues this week as we are exploring fantasy, mystery, biography, historical fiction and fables and fairytales. These groups are looking at the elements of texts within this genre and how we can connect with them.
Procedural/ Explanation Texts
Our final text type for the year is looking at procedural and explanation texts. We will be looking at how strong and clear communication helps us to teach others and how sharing and teaching our expertise helps to build a learning community where we are all valued.
Life Education Van
Every homegroup will have their session with the life ed. van this week (with 3/4A having theirs next Monday Morning). This year our topic is Mind Your Medicine and students will be receiving a reflection book to complete after the session.
