Hello parents and carers,
We are almost at the end of term 3 and what a busy term it has been. At the beginning of term 4, we will be going on excursions in our Animal Inquiry Research Groups. These excursions will be a chance to extend the children’s learning and research skills by providing them with a direct source of knowledge and acquaint them with first-hand information.
The Extinct Animal Group: Melbourne Museum on the 15th October
Through guided investigations using real objects, the children will find out more about how dinosaurs lived through their own observations of the skeletons and fossils, and respond to and pose their own questions about the objects – just like a real palaeontologist!
The Wild Animals Group: Werribee Zoo on 22nd October
Through immersion in a habitat shared with wildlife, the children will use their senses to investigate the features of living things: how they grow and change and how their basic needs for survival are met.
The Sea Animals Group: Melbourne Aquarium on the 23rd October
The children will embark on an underwater journey to meet the amazing animals on display and discover their unique features. Students will identify the basic needs of living things and learn about the diverse ways animals survive in their habitats. They will also learn how some animals’ features change as they grow from babies to adults.
We will remind you again closer to the actual dates, but we ask that on the day you make sure your children bring a packed lunch and their hats.
