Camp Manyung Day Two

It has been a wonderful day at Mount Eliza, with Spring definitely in the air. With hats on and sunscreen smothered we started the morning well with a breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and cereal. After a quick tidy of our cabins it was ready to start our 4 rotations today.

Giant Swing

The giant swing is a so exciting.  You start with all of the safety things we needed to consider and then you get a safety harness on. Children who are waiting to have their go help to bring you up to the top. You keep climbing up and up and then you can see the bay and the city in the distance. When you are ready you pull a cord and whoosh – you fly through the air!

Rock Pool Ramble

With our wet water shoes on we headed to the beach. It is only a few minutes walk from the camp and along a really nice path. At the beach it was really cool to see the waves rolling in. We walked along the rocks looking for different creatures. It was amazing what we found, blubber jellyfish, sea urchins, snails, cuttlefish and skeletons. But we also found rubbish and plastic which was sad to see.

Initiative Games

The initiative games are a series of games where you have to solve puzzles using the people in your group.  Wendy the seahorse is missing her friend the starfish and you have to solve the puzzles to find him. The first one was a log where you had to get 6 people from one side to the other, passing another 6 people but without falling off. There was also puzzles like a broken bridge and a spider web. We had to think about our group as well as trying to solve the problems and it was lots of fun.

Frisbee Golf

Just like golf but with frisbees! We got into teams and went to the first hole. You had to take it in turns to throw the frisbee and you were trying to get the lowest throw possible. Some were par 4 or 5 (par means how many shots you are aiming to complete the hole in). We got to do ten holes all the way around the camp and had some interesting obstacles in our way.

This afternoon we had some more free time and then sat down for our last dinner. Tonight it was Roast Chicken and vegetables and chocolate mousse for desert. It was delicious!

After dinner we finished with a quiz game with the Quiz Master, Jared. And the some story telling with Matilda and Mel around the campfire with some marshmallows. It was a great day.
