Global Goals Groups – Excursions Next Week

Next week, our three global goals groups will be going on three different excursions, that will help them to deepen their understanding about the group’s focus areas.

The Quality of Life group will be visiting Woolworth’s at Barkley Square, where they will take part in a Fresh Food Kids Discovery Tour about food habits, sustainability, and waste reduction. This excursion will take place on the morning of Thursday 13th September, and students in this group will travel by foot with Jen up to Barkley Square after we take the role (9:15am) and return to school by 11:15am.

The Sustainability group will be visiting the School of Design at the University of Melbourne, and will participate in a tour of the sustainable design features of the building. This excursion will take place on Friday 14th September in the second session (to accommodate students who are part of the instrumental music program). Meredith and the students in this group will leave school at 11am and travel by tram to the university, where we will eat our lunch before attending the tour. If time permits after the tour, there will be an opportunity for a bit more of an explore of the old and new buildings on campus, before we return by tram back to the school at 2pm. Because we are travelling by tram, a permission form will be sent home with students this afternoon to be signed and returned to school.

The Life on Earth group will take part in a biodiversity walk and audit at Princes Park. This excursion will also take place on Friday 14th September, and Warrick and the students in this group will depart at 11am and eat their lunch at the park. Students will return to school by 2pm.

If you are available to attend and help out on the excursion that your child is attending, please let Jen, Warrick, or Meredith know.
