Hello all!
1 more week until our exciting Camp Manyung! We are all very much looking forward to the experience with so many things on offer. Thank you to those who brought in their dietary requirement forms, the chefs now knows exactly what to cook for us all! A couple of small reminders in order to prepare for the camp:
- Start packing the bags now, give them the responsibility of packing it so they know exactly what’s going on camp (don’t forget to write names on clothes) and no lollies of any sort.
- Talk through the code of conduct and what behaviour’s are expected on camp.
- Later this week, students will be told their activity groups, bus groups and the routine of where they need to be on Monday morning – make sure to ask them what groups they are in and where they need to be.
- There will be another blog post of reminders in the coming days, but if your child is bringing medication, please organise a suitable container and your child’s name clearly marked so Jared can place it carefully into the correct containers come Monday morning.
Learning in Week 8:
Choose your own adventure!
How does my identity affect the decisions I make? Children will explore where decisions are made in stories and how characters make or deal with these decisions. Children will use flowcharts to show how stories have different decisions points and create their own choose your own adventure text. Choose your own adventure texts will be on display in the couch area!
The time of our lives!
Children are making their own timepieces using recycled materials. Students will be designing an invented timepiece, created to measure something that is important to them. They will build it – testing as they go and working towards a finished working timepiece.
Timelines!
Children are creating different timelines to assist in considering how their identity has been influenced and major events in their lives. This will support them in coming up with ideas for their recounts. There will be a giant timeline to add thoughts to and children can create timelines for different events using different themes.
Seed Wall and soap box!
We will encourage children to bring in items that spark a memory of an event that they have been part of. These will be collected in a wall display. Children will also be encourage through the week to talk about these to build oral storytelling to support recounts. There will also be a soap box put in the performance space to allow children opportunity to tell stories to an audience.
Have a great week!
